We hear the terms “trends” and “trend forecasting” all the time, especially in creative industries. Understanding trends is often a requirement of many jobs, especially in fashion. What are they (really)? How can I tell if something is a trend? Should I care about them? These are typical questions asked about trends. In this 3 hour workshop we’ll look at what they are in both a short-term and long-term context and discuss theories that help in distinguishing and tracking them. You will then start on identifying a trend and learn how to visually articulate it.


This is an introductory workshop discussing the mechanics of how trends work.


Bring your laptop: hands-on exercises build on the lecture material. A small group setting allows for personal attention by the instructor.

NOTE: There is a follow-up workshop that continues the conversation. In it, we work on presentations started in the first workshop and refine them for both clarity (and deepening) of message and quality of images.

Workshop includes wine & nibbles.
